The Gold Coast Media Centre (GCMC) has been established by City of Gold Coast and the Queensland Government for all media attending the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018). The GCMC is co-located with Commonwealth House, the home of the official Trade 2018 business program.
The GCMC is a purpose-built media hub in a stunning beachfront location in the main hub of Broadbeach providing a unique space surrounded by vibrant cultural celebrations. The area offers the perfect backdrop for live crosses, content and unique interview positions and is within walking distance to the Main Media Centre, Festival 2018 zone, restaurants, cafes, accommodation and public transport.
The GCMC offers workspace, free Wi-Fi, press conferences with key city spokespeople, refreshments, amenities and screens with live coverage of GC2018 sporting action. Visiting media have access to expert guidance on key Gold Coast and Queensland attractions and places of interest as well as compelling story leads about the region.
The GCMC will operate from 25 March – 16 April 2018 (opening 11 days before GC2018 commences and closing one day after the Closing Ceremony). The hours of operation will be from 8am – 8pm, seven days a week. During this time the GCMC will host a program of events that will showcase the best of the Gold Coast and Queensland's people, lifestyle, culture and local industries. Bookable filming positions will also be available around the city during the GCMC operational period.
GC2018 sporting and cultural events will be staged not only on the Gold Coast, but across Queensland in Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns.
